We’ve been supporting Gateshead Food Partnership to visualise their launch event: Gateshead Food Summit, at Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art.
Community leaders, campaigners and local people from the area came together for a brilliant day full of passion and important discussions about the food system in Gateshead, looking at sustainable, healthy and affordable food for everyone.
We worked collaboratively with Nikki Dravers, Gateshead Food Partnership Coordinator, in the planning of the event, and became a thinking partner on the design of the day.
Our visuals needed to capture the energy, passion and inspiration at the event, and we would also be facilitating a session about understanding our place within the food system.
We thought not only about the key elements (the visuals and the facilitated session), but also about the smaller details such as how people would be assigned tables, and how to capture pledges from participants. Nikki was inspired by our conversations and used pieces of fruit and veg to group people and assign them to tables, which was a creative way to incorporate what the day was about. Attendees could then eat the fruit or take the vegetable home with them.
On the day of the event, Ellie and Ruby graphic recorded the speaker sessions to capture all of the key insights from the day, while Steph spoke to participants about their engagement and learnings to create a digital visual that would be turned into a timelapse video.
As well as drawing, Ellie facilitated a session with participants by splitting them into pairs to have purposeful conversations about the food system and to understand our place within it. Passionate conversations and thinking happened within these breakout sessions, with everyone’s voice being heard.
Your extensive experience with meetings and events meant that you knew what would and wouldn't work, and could visualise how to make conversations effective and productive.

The work we created got brilliant feedback from the participants, and our collaborative planning, facilitation and drawing all added an extra layer of engagement to a day where everyone was passionately coming together to work towards the same goal.
The visual has been used as the banner image on the Gateshead Food Partnership website, emailed to attendees post-event, and included as part of a report sent to councillors.
Gateshead Food Partnership is planning some smaller events discussing the themes from the summit. Watch this space.
Here are the visuals we created
We asked participants 'How can you contribute to good food in Gateshead?' and drew their answers on a digital visual
We asked participants 'What does good food mean to you?' and drew their answers on a digital visual
We created a large graphic recording on paper that captured the key messages and discussions from throughout the day
The team were slick and professional, producing brilliant artwork and visuals which really lifted the event from 'another conference' to something creative, engaging, and exciting.

Live Scribing a Conference For ESNEFT
We’ve worked with ESNEFT (East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust) multiple times over the last few years, and our trusted relationship means that we are their go-to for visualising events and conferences. This time we supported them by capturing the Faculty of Education’s first internal conference with a digital visual to document the day.
Entrepreneurs' Forum 2024
Ellie Chapman, Lim’s Founder, was invited to the Entrepreneurs’ Forum annual conference: Together We Can Take on the World.
While attending the event, Ellie had an idea up her sleeve to do what Lim does best and shine a light on the information shared on the day by creating a sketchnote of each speaker session on her iPad.
