Creating visuals for The School of Artisan Food

We’re experts at translating complex, qualitative data into easily accessible and engaging visuals.

That’s why The School of Artisan Food chose us to graphic record their Springboard event that would launch the findings of their groundbreaking Food Education Mapping Project report to over 70 stakeholders.

The Brief

The School of Artisan Food was holding a Springboard Event to launch its Food Education Mapping Project report, a national investigation into explored how food education is delivered through the curriculum, shaped by the school environment and applied in real-world contexts in English secondary schools.

The event would bring together over 70 stakeholders with expertise in food education, including educators, students and local authorities.

The SoAF needed visuals to capture the key themes and stakeholder discussions during the workshops, showing how schools, communities, and employers can come together to create powerful food learning experiences. The visuals needed to summarise the event and the information shared, and then become part of the report itself and be used as a visual tool to promote its release.

Our Approach

The visuals needed to present the findings of the report in a vibrant and digestible way for the event participants, while also being detailed enough to condense key learnings into bold and eye-catching visuals that would become part of the report itself.

Ellie P created four digital visuals to document the day, including a summary of the main introduction, three visuals of the workshops facilitated by the researchers, and timelapse videos of all the visuals being created.

In keeping with the brand colours and shapes that would be used in the report, Ellie illustrated discussions on how students "Learn it" in classrooms, "See it" through the school environment, and "Live it" in real-world contexts.

Impact results

By translating the findings in a visually interesting way, we helped make complex research more accessible, which supported engagement with diverse audiences, and ensured that the final recommendations were grounded in both evidence and lived experience.

Not only were the visuals shared with event participants, and included in the report itself, they were also used to promote their report on The School of Artisan Food’s own channels, including a time-lapse video of the visual being created that was shared on LinkedIn.

Our translation of complex, qualitative data into clear, engaging visual summaries have contributed to the success of the report and even prompted policy discussions, as well as these incredible stats.

The way in which Ellie communicated our conversations into illustrations is nothing short of magic.

Why visualise research and report findings?

  • It condenses complex information into engaging visuals.
  • It adds interest to long, dry reports with qualitative data.
  • It makes your research accessible for everyone.
  • It gives you a visual summary to present to stakeholders and decision makers to help secure funding for future projects.
