Live scribe on cardboard boxes - C&IT Festival of Forums

Case Study

Visualising a series of events for Haymarket Media Group

We expanded our creative ideas to deliver something unique over a series of events.

We’ve been working with Haymarket Media Group to deliver visuals for three different C&IT events over the last year.

The first was the C&IT Sustainability Forum, then the C&IT Agency Forum, and finally the C&IT Festival of Forums.

Each event was different, and we brought something unique to each one. As our trusted working relationship developed, we were able to expand our creative ideas and deliver something different each time.

We had brilliant feedback, boosted audience engagement and kept conversations going. Our visuals allowed the content from each conference to shine.

C&IT Sustainability Forum

We kicked off our work with Haymarket visualising the C&IT Sustainability Forum.

It was a one day event in London, focussing on how the events industry can make moves to improve its sustainability, with guest speakers covering everything from vegan food at events to ways of recording our social impact.

Ellie P and Connie were live scribing learnings from the speakers on 3m of paper. We used our refillable Neuland pens and paper on a graphic wall because we’re always striving to be more sustainable.

For this event, we decided that size was the way to go, and we live scribed key insights from the conference on 6m of paper.

We needed to design the visual in a way that different sections of content could be pulled out and used separately. The Lim team had the genius idea to do this through the use of colour and gradient.

Not only were Ellie P and Connie live scribing, but they also chatted with participants to get their insights on the event and sessions. This is a great way to encourage interaction and conversation around the visual and boost engagement.

  1. The artwork was used in post-event comms to thank participants and summarise the event.

  2. The artwork will be used to advertise for the next event.

  3. The Haymarket team also created video content for social media.

  4. The original visual has been sent to the team ready for use in their office.

C&IT Festival of Forums

This was the final event in the series and we were stoked to try out something different. This conference had a focus on sustainability, so it was the perfect opportunity to debut a new idea that we’d been working on.

Over the two days Connie was live scribing digital visuals on her iPad of key insights from the speaker sessions. She created four visuals that would be shared with attendees, used on the C&IT website and shared on social media.

Meanwhile, Ellie P was creating our first ever live installation, using reused cardboard boxes that would otherwise be headed for recycling. She spoke to participants about their key learnings from the conference and created a multifaceted installation visual to highlight how people were experiencing the conference and what they would be taking away from it. It allowed a breakout session from the main talks and was something fun and interactive that people could get involved in.

Not only was it a brilliant engagement tool, but drawing on reused cardboard boxes was a winner for the planet. And we put them up on Gumtree afterwards so the boxes would continue on their journey and have another life.

It’s a way of showing off your event’s content that you wouldn’t have thought you could.

For the third year running, we were there to visually capture the two-day event at the ExCel Centre in London, but this time we had a plan to do things a little differently.
