Live Graphic Recording for Strategy Day
When Sistren Legal Collective, a powerful community of lawyers with a deep commitment to social and racial justice, invited us to support their internal strategy day, we were honoured to contribute in a way that brought clarity and creativity.
The work that Sistren does supports activists, changemakers, and organisations who are driving transformative change in the UK and beyond.
The team were looking for a way to capture the depth and dynamism of their strategic conversation - not just through notes or slides, but through a living, visual document. They wanted something that could reflect their ideas, their energy, and their collective vision in real-time.
Their goal for the day was to reflect on what they wanted to look like and achieve as a collective moving forward. At the end of this process, having a visual representation of that conversation, something they could literally see and build from, felt like a powerful and necessary tool.
Kieran from the Lim team joined the session and live captured the unfolding conversation on his iPad, using a digital graphic recording process. As the Sistren team discussed their values, goals, and strategies, he translated those spoken ideas into an evolving visual map, highlighting key themes, insights, and aspirations as they emerged.
The result was a vibrant, layered digital artwork that represented not only the outcomes of the discussion, but also the flow and feeling of the session itself.
For Sistren, the final visual helped them solidify the direction they want to grow in as a legal collective. It became a visual anchor for their values and intentions, and a reminder of what can be built when legal expertise meets radical imagination.
Here's what the Sistren had to say:
“Every time we look at the Collective Vision visual for Sistren Legal Collective it is a reminder of how far we have come and where we see us going in the future. It is a stunning visual representation of our strategy and a visual keepsake of our shared values and principles. Keiran was considerate and respectful throughout our conversation and showed genuine care for our work; something which is important as each member of the Collective brings so much of their own identities, vulnerabilities and care into the work that we do for our communities. We are delighted with the result of this collaboration with Lim and look forward to working with them again.”

Here's how the visual was created
Graphic recording is a powerful tool for strategy development. It supports:
Clarity: Seeing your ideas laid out visually helps identify gaps, overlaps, and opportunities that can be hard to spot in conversation alone.
Engagement: Participants feel more connected and present when they see their contributions reflected in real time.
Memory & Alignment: Visuals are easier to recall than text-heavy notes. A single shared image can help align teams and sustain momentum after a session ends.
Legacy: The output becomes a creative artefact that continues to inspire and guide the team.
Visual storytelling that sparked engagement
The Meetings Show (TMS) invited Lim to help light up the 2025 event, both on stage and behind the scenes. Our goal? To create large-scale live visuals at the Blank Canvas Stage and craft a visually rich Playbook using Snapsight, a real-time insight capture tool.
Together, we set out to spotlight the brilliance that was unfolding across the speaker stages and transform it into a glowing resource; designed to spark reflection, action and after-event conversation.

We’ve been visualising a research project with King’s College London and their Patient Advisory Group on Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM). They've been working together to understand the impact of GDM on women’s mental health both during and after pregnancy.
